The Coronavirus pandemic has affected our day to day lives in unprecedented ways. As a healthcare provider, the health, safety and wellbeing of our patients and colleagues are our top priority. Following the removal of the Government’s Covid restrictions earlier in the year, we have been able to relax some of the safety measures we have put in place throughout the pandemic. Due to the recent increase in the prevalence of Covid cases however, and the resulting impact on our services and colleagues, the wearing of an appropriate face covering is once again compulsory in all areas of the hospital, unless there is a medical exemption.
Infection control has always been of the highest priority in our practice however to continue to mitigate the potential spread of Covid, we are retaining some of our enhanced safety protocols to ensure precautions are taken for your forthcoming appointment with us. This may mean that your visit to our practice may look and feel slightly different, but these precautions are designed to keep both you and our staff as safe as possible.
Screening of all patients and staff
We ask that you do not attend the practice if
- You are experiencing any Covid-19 related symptoms including fever, new or persistent cough, difficulty breathing, fatigue and/or loss/change of smell or taste.
- You or a member of your household have a confirmed diagnosis of Covid-19.
- You or a member of your household are awaiting the results of a Covid-19 swab or have been in close contact with someone demonstrating symptoms of Covid-19.
- You have travelled to a country requiring quarantine in the last 10 days.
- You have been told you must isolate by the NHS Covid-19 app.
Prior to your appointment
We will send you an electronic risk assessment or call you on the telephone prior to your outpatient appointment with us to check your medical status, and so we can advise you of the arrangements we have in place for attending an appointment with us.
We ask that if you are able and you have an appropriate face covering, you wear it to your appointment with us. If you don’t have an appropriate face covering, or you forget to bring one, don’t worry, we will provide you with a face mask to wear during your appointment.
On arrival at your appointment
We ask that you wait in your car on arrival and enter the building no earlier than ten minutes before the time of your appointment. Please present to the ground floor reception, disinfect your hands with the sanitiser provided and enter your car registration number into the tablet. You will be directed to the appropriate waiting area where you will be met by your consultant, or a member of our team.
If you are not attending by car, please enter the building no earlier than ten minutes before the time of your appointment. If you arrive earlier than this, you may be asked to wait at the ground floor reception area.
Please attend unaccompanied unless you require a parent or carer and please bring the minimal amount of belongings with you.
To reduce the number of people who enter our practice, we ask that you attend unaccompanied to your appointment unless you require a parent or carer. If you need assistance for your appointment, our staff will do our upmost to meet your needs.
We appreciate that many patients would like the reassurance of a family member or friend to be present, especially at the first visit. If you feel that you need a companion at your appointment, please speak to our administration team who will discuss your requirements with you.
We appreciate that in many families, both parents would like to attend their child’s appointment to be involved in the discussion. As a result of the Coronavirus pandemic however, we do ask that only one parent attend the appointment. Additional visitors would be welcomed remotely by our consultants via video call. We also ask that you do not attend the appointment with more children than the patient if at all possible.
Personal protective equipment (PPE)
Depending on the circumstance, our staff will be wearing PPE. We also have perspex screens in place where necessary. If you are apprehensive in any way, please let us know your concerns.
Please continue to ensure you keep to the social distancing measures we have put in place and try to minimise the surfaces and door handles that you touch.
After your appointment
When you leave the practice, we will thoroughly disinfect and sterilise the consulting room and equipment.
We will only be able to accept card payments at reception, with our card machine being disinfected after use. Should you prefer not to pay by card, you can make payment prior to your appointment by electronic transfer of funds. Our bank details are available on request.
We hope you find this information useful and reassuring and we look forward to welcoming you to our practice. We would also like to thank you for your patience throughout this pandemic. If you have any further queries or concerns, please contact our administrative team by email at email@example.com or telephone 01904 715020.
